Protecting Your Privacy & Security

How We Protect You

Given heightened concern about online fraud and identity theft, we want to make every Camden National banking experience as safe and secure as possible. Below are just a few of the preventive measures we have established.

Bank Privacy Policy

We provide annual training on the Bank’s Privacy Policy to all of our employees, who are committed to honoring your privacy. We recognize and are guided by the belief that protecting each person’s right to privacy is fundamental to the quality and loyalty of customer relationships.

Password Protection

For your protection, we require that you establish a confidential password that only you know before using any of our online or telephone access services. This assures that you, and only you, have access to your accounts.

Multifactor Authentication

Multifactor Authentication is yet another layer of protection for your online accounts. This security feature detects uncharacteristic or unusual activities involving your account(s). If anything out of the ordinary is detected, we will ask you to answer your pre-selected verification questions to confirm your identity.

Security Procedures

We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal standards to guard your nonpublic, personal information.

How You Can Protect Yourself

In addition to the security measures we take, it is important that you also safeguard your personal and financial information. Here are some steps to help you:

General

  • Know your billing cycles and watch for any missing bills or mail. Review your bills and statements on a regular basis for any unusual activity and report any discrepancies immediately.
  • Guard your mail and trash from theft.
  • Shred any financial solicitations or other bank statements before disposing of them.
  • Report lost or stolen checks or credit/debit cards immediately.
  • Do not give out personal information or account numbers over the phone during an unsolicited call.
  • Notify your bank immediately of suspicious phone inquiries or emails such as those asking to verify personal account information.
  • Keep your social security number safe and don't give it out unless you know the person or organization you are dealing with.
  • Check your credit report annually. To request your credit report, contact one of the three credit reporting agencies at:

These three national credit reporting agencies sponsor www.annualcreditreport.com, where you can request copies of your credit report from all three reporting agencies at one time.

Debit/ATM Card Safety

  • When using an ATM or paying with a debit card, make sure no one is “shoulder surfing” to see your PIN number.
  • Do not write your PIN number on your card or carry this number in your wallet.
  • Photocopy the fronts and backs of all credit and debit cards and keep these photocopies in a safe place. Should your wallet or purse ever be stolen, you will know how to quickly access this information to cancel your cards.
  • Keep track of ATM/debit card/credit card receipts.  Never throw them in a public trash receptacle; tear them up or shred them once you no longer need them.

Internet Banking

  • When conducting business online, use a secure browser that encrypts or scrambles purchase information and make sure your browser’s padlock or key icon is active.
  • Notify your bank immediately of email inquiries such as those asking to verify personal account information. We will never request your account number or password via email.
  • Never write down your username and password on or close to your computer.
  • Do not send sensitive account or personal information via regular email.
