Debit Card Cell Phone Scam Alert

We have detected that some Camden National Bank customers in the Waldo County area have been the target of an automated debit card cell phone scam. Customers received an automated message stating that their VISA debit card “may have been compromised, may have a security issue, or may require additional information.” The automated message requests that the customer “press 1” to respond.
This cell phone scam was a mass auto-dialing effort and was not a security breach of Camden National Bank customer privacy.
Debit/Credit Card Phone Scam Alert
April 16, 2009
We have detected that some Camden National customers as well as other local households have been the target of a widely spread automated debit and credit card phone scam. Local households received an automated message stating that their debit/credit card had been suspended. The automated message requested that the customer enter specific card information, such as account number and the security code in order to re-activate the card.
This phone scam was a mass auto-dialing effort targeting local households and does not involve a Camden National customer privacy breach.
