Targett Named CNB's America's Promise
Leanna Targett recognized as Camden National Bank's 2007 America's Promise Volunteer - 4/24/2007
Leanna Targett, Assistant Branch Manager - Kingfield Branch, at Camden National Bank was recognized as the Bank's 2007 America’s Promise Volunteer. "We were extremely pleased to select Leanna for this recognition," said Gregory A. Dufour, president & Chief Executive Officer for Camden National Bank. "Her efforts exemplify the Bank's commitment to the America's Promise program."
A Maine native and longtime resident of the Kingfield area, Leanna Targett has dedicated her volunteer efforts to benefit the youth in her Northern Franklin County community. Focusing on education, Leanna serves as president of the Kingfield Elementary School PTA, as treasurer of the Kingfield Elementary School Group, and also participates in various school activities throughout the year to ensure the success and diversity of her community's school programs. Focusing on character development, Leanna serves as a leader for her community's Girl Scouts troop to help promote lifelong learning skills such as goal setting, money management, and teamwork. Focusing on personal health, Leanna volunteers with her area's ski/skate program to provide local youth with physical fitness skills and an appreciation for the outdoors. Focusing on learning through development and fun, Leanna volunteers with the Kingfield POPS committee to bring live music to the Western Mountains and music education to the local schools.
"Since 1999 Maine banks have been emphasizing their commitment to children through their active participation in America's Promise," said Joe Pietroski, president of Maine Bankers Association. "Annually, employees of our membership which encompass banks throughout Maine, volunteer thousands of hours to positively impact the lives of thousands of Maine children and their families."
The 123nd State Legislature recognized the 25 bankers acknowledged this year with a joint resolution commending the Maine Bankers Association and their employees for their volunteer efforts, financial education activities, participation in America's Promise and other worthwhile community programs that support Maine's youth at critical times in their lives, allowing America’s dreams to take shape.
America's Promise is a national not-for-profit organization that serves as a nationwide catalyst, urging public, private and nonprofit organizations to focus their combined talents and resources to improve the lives of our nation's youth. Depicted by a little red wagon, America's Promise has the slogan "We're Pulling Our Weight." The five fundamental resources supported by America's Promise are:
· An going relationship with a caring adult as a mentor, tutor or coach
· Access to safe places and structured activities during non-school hours
· A healthy start
· A marketable skill through effective education
· An opportunity to give back through community service
Presenting the America's Promise award to Leanna Targett at Camden National Bank's Kingfield branch, Pietroski said, "Through the efforts of employees like Leanna Targett at Camden National Bank, banks all across Maine are "pulling their weight" to help improve the lives of children in their local communities."
