Camden National Once Again named to Forbes’ List of the 100 Most Trustworthy Companies in America

Camden, Maine, June 20, 2013For the second consecutive year, Camden National Corporation announced it has been named to Forbes’ list of the 100 Most Trustworthy Companies in America—once again the only Maine-based company on the list. The organization was evaluated along with more than 8,000 other companies traded on U.S. Exchanges by GMI Ratings, an independent risk research firm that provides a statistically modeled assessment of corporate integrity.

“Being named to the Forbes’ list of America’s Most Trustworthy companies is a great source of pride for all of us at Camden National,” said Gregory A. Dufour, president and chief executive officer, Camden National Bank. “To earn this distinction for the second consecutive year affirms our belief in the importance of building customer-centric relationships built on honesty and trust.”

Camden National has been a part of the Maine community since 1875. Throughout its history, the company has maintained a strong focus on its core values which remain an important and relevant part of the company’s culture. “From day one, our employees learn that the values we embrace—honesty and integrity, trust, service, responsibility, and excellence—all translate into providing our four constituencies with the very best possible experience, explained Dufour. “These four constituencies are customers, communities, shareholders and stakeholders (also known as employees).”

In order to assess the true quality of corporate accounting and management practices, GMI’s analysis looks beyond the raw data on companies’ income statements and balance sheets. In addition to exceeding a market cap of $250 million at the time the list was created, Camden National maintained an Accounting and Governance Risk (“AGR”) rating of “conservative” or “average” over the last four quarters, and had no amended filings, enforcement actions or material restatements with the Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”). Finally, the company ranked high on GMI’s Equity Risk Ranking, indicating a positive forecast for equity returns, and minimal likelihood of distress as measured by GMI’s Bankruptcy Risk model.
