Waldoboro, ME – More than 30 students at Medomak Valley High School will receive financial literacy certification after completing the Camden National Bank Financial Scholars Program, made possible with the financial support of Camden National Bank. The event, honoring the students’ achievements, will be held on May 9th at 8 a.m., at Medomak Valley High School, located at 320 Manktown Road in Waldoboro.
Camden National Bank has incorporated the EverFi Financial Literacy E-Learning Platform into high schools across the mid-coast as part of a statewide initiative to make innovative financial education available to all students. This online program uses the latest in new media technologies – adaptive-pathing, 3-D gaming, social networking, online animations, video and messaging tools – to bring complex financial concepts to life. Using the EverFi platform, students have become certified in more than 600 topics in personal finance.
Camden National teamed up with EverFi as part of the bank’s ongoing initiative to increase financial literacy education throughout the state. In addition to the financial scholars program, Camden National has been active in other financial literacy programs, including the American Bankers Association’s Teach Children to Save program and Get Smart About Credit.
“As bankers and parents, we at Camden National are very concerned about the level of financial literacy in our youth, especially those who are getting ready to enter adulthood,” said Greg Dufour, president and chief executive officer of Camden National Bank. “While Camden National is willing to devote resources to help in this important issue facing high school students, it is rewarding to see this group of Medomak Valley High School students who are willing to take part in this program to help themselves as well as those around them. I congratulate each one.”
Students graduating from the Camden National Bank Financial Scholars Program will have the knowledge to help them make the right decisions when it comes to personal financial management. By participating in this program, Medomak Valley High School students are taking the lead on the statewide financial literacy initiative powered by EverFi.
